The IP Clerk will provide entry-level assistance to support the IP Legal Administrative Assistants, Attorneys, Practice Assistants, and Paralegals in the Firm’s Intellectual Property Patent Group. This position jointly support the Atlanta and Raleigh offices with opportunities for growth within the practice group.
• Administrative tasks include filing, completing forms, organizing documents, distribution of mail and general support to the IP Patents Group • Enter and track due dates into matter management system; • Review USPTO and outside counsel correspondence, enter new cases and new due dates; • Generate docket reports; • Communicate with USPTO, attorneys, paralegals, liaisons and staff about docketing • Assist in quality assurance review for patent filings by noting and referring any errors or omissions during docketing to attorneys
• General knowledge of Intellectual Property patent prosecution procedures; • Works as a team member and shows respect for co-workers; • Commitment to providing superior customer service; • Ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the firm; • Advanced knowledge of PC applications, including the entire suite of MS Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint). • Bachelor’s degree preferred; not required. • 1+ year of patent docketing and/or prosecution administration experience.
