  • General Summary

    Alston & Bird is currently seeking a Resource Center Specialist to work in the Main Resource Center of our Atlanta office.  The preferred schedule is Monday, 12noon-10p, Tuesday, 12noon-10p, Saturday, 7:30a-4:30p and Sunday, 7:30a-4:30p.  

    Essential Duties

    • Producing and editing complex documents using expert word processing and advanced software knowledge.
    • Ability to complete general editing tasks to correct documents as directed and also according to Firm’s quality standards.
    • Transcribing tapes, scanning and cleaning documents and converting documents to and from different software packages.
    • Producing flow charts, tables, spreadsheets, presentations, letters, mail/label mergers and other documents.
    • Duplicating and creating CDs/DVDs and labels as needed.
    • Handling confidential and non-routine information.
    • Working cooperatively with legal staff on job or deadline issues.
    • Maintaining proficiency with office procedures and keeping current with Firm technology.
    • Answering and fielding all incoming calls in a professional and courteous manner.

    Skills Needed to be Successful

    • Qualified candidates will possess excellent clerical skills, strong organizational skills, as well as accurate typing at an appropriate speed.
    • Candidates should also have exceptional skills in general office procedures and filing techniques, along with an enthusiastic team player attitude and a professional work ethic.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Applicants should have five or more years of previous word processing experience and/or a college degree.
    • Candidates will be tested on their knowledge of Microsoft Word, spelling, and typing speed.
    • 5+ years of experience in a legal or word processing center is required.
    • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word (heavy formatting, styles and numbering schemes, TOC, TOA, cleaning of corrupt documents).
    • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Proficient in PDFs (scanning and conversion, fillable forms).
    • Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
    • Attention to detail with an emphasis on quality and accuracy.
    • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects.
    • Ability to interact with all levels of Firm personnel while maintaining a professional demeanor.
