    Locations: Atlanta, GA | Washington D.C. Charlotte and Los Angeles


    The Reference Librarian is responsible for assisting attorneys and staff with ready reference and directed research assignments, including interlibrary loan and document retrieval. The Reference Librarian reports directly to the WDC Senior Library Manager.  The A&B Library staff works as a virtual team, therefore, research requests and projects may be assigned from any of the 9 offices in the United States. The Reference Librarian will provide required reference coverage Monday-Friday from 9:30a -6:00p.

    Essential Duties

    • The position is responsible for participating in online research and training, including but not limited to: Lexis Advance, PACER, Reprints Desk, Dun & Bradstreet, Hoovers, electronic dockets and general internet platforms.
    • The Reference Librarian is expected to assist with legal, business, financial and bibliographic projects as directed by A&B Librarians.
    • The Reference Librarian may also provide technical services assistance, including but not limited to: cataloging, serial maintenance, acquisitions and collection development projects.

    Skills Needed to be Successful

    • The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, forms and syntax.
    • Ability to establish effective working relationships throughout the Firm and with outside vendors and contractors.
    • Advanced knowledge of and experience with general office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred.
    • A working knowledge of general office procedures and filing techniques, along with the capability to concentrate on details and organize work is also preferred.
    • Ability to learn Firm systems and procedures to efficiently meet departmental and supervisor's expectations.
    • Thorough organization skills and ability to prioritize workload.
    • General knowledge of basic legal terminology.

     Education and Experience

    • The candidate must have a Master’s degree program from an ALA-accredited library school or a J.D.  or have 5 year of relevant law library experience with knowledge of online and print legal materials.
    • An awareness of current trends in legal research as well as library automation and library instructional programs and experience with EOS Integrated Library System and SharePoint a plus.
