Alston & Bird is conducting a search for a Legal Administrative Assistant to assist firm attorneys in our Litigation and Trial practice group. The Legal Administrative Assistant will perform a variety of administrative duties including type and revise correspondence, memoranda, documents, time sheets and project work; proofreading and ensuring quality of all document action; telephone and mail distribution; coordinate and plan events; coordinate travel arrangements; and maintain files. We are conducting a search for a German speaking Legal Administrative Assistant to support firm lawyers who have a practice and clients in Germany.

Essential Duties

The Legal Administrative Assistant should have work experience:

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Strong word processing skills
  • Ability to manage heavy administrative work and position
  • General office procedures and filing techniques
  • The capability to concentrate on detail and organize work
  • Exude top customer service principles when interacting with clients and vendors
  • Case and project management 
  • Provide quality control and proofread correspondence and legal documents
  • Enter attorney time
  • Work with Finance team and Billing Coordinators on client billing matters
  • Electronic filing
  • Maintaining client portals
  • Coordinating travel and meeting arrangements
  • Processing expense reimbursements
  • Interacting with clients and maintaining files
  • The ability to work with a wide spectrum of individuals
  • Provide German translations as needed
  • Respond and write correspondence in German
  • Assist with business development and marketing tasks that relate to the German practice
  • Contribute to the German Referandare Internship program as it relates to reviewing and recruiting applicants

Skills Needed to be Successful


  • Fluency in verbal and written German language.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of prior administrative experience in a law firm is highly desirable.
  • A high school diploma is required; an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
